NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

November 16th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a Public Hearing on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Shaw Auditorium at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre at 80 Commercial Street, Nanaimo, BC to consider a covenant amendment and amendments to the “City of Nanaimo Zoning Bylaw 2011 No. 4500”. All persons who believe their interest in the properties is affected by the proposed amendments will be given a reasonable opportunity to be heard. Members of the public can participate in-person or electronically by viewing the meeting live-streamed online with the opportunity to call-in to speak to an agenda item. The application and call-in number will be displayed on the live-stream when the application is being considered. A copy of the amendment bylaws and related information may be inspected from November 2nd to 16th, 2023, from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday (excluding statutory holidays), at the City of Nanaimo, Planning & Development, Service and Resource Centre, located at 411 Dunsmuir Street.

1. COVENANT AMENDMENT APPLICATION No. CA000017

Location: 6340 McRobb Avenue, as shown on Map A

The purpose of this application is to amend Section 219 covenants on the subject property to facilitate a 6-storey multi-family residential development.

2. ZONING AMENDMENT BYLAW 4500.216

The purpose of this bylaw is to rezone the subject property from Single Dwelling Residential (R1) to Residential Corridor (COR1) to facilitate a multi-family development.

The subject property is legally described as: LOT 8, DISTRICT LOT 30, WELLINGTON DISTRICT, PLAN 15012.

3. ZONING AMENDMENT BYLAW 4500.215

Location: 1100 Cedar Road; 1505 and 1605 Fielding Road; and 1750 Rajeena Way, as shown on Map C

File No.: Rezoning Application – RA000461

The purpose of this bylaw is to rezone the subject properties from Rural Resource (AR1) and Parks, Recreation, and Culture One (PRC1) to Steep Slope Residential (R10), Highway Industrial (I1), Light Industrial (I2), and Comprehensive Development District Zone Thirteen (CD13), in order to facilitate a residential, industrial, and mixed-use development aligned with the Sandstone Master Plan.

The subject properties are legally described as: LOT 1, 3, 5 AND 7, SECTION 2 AND 3, NANAIMO DISTRICT, PLAN EPP19870.

Written submissions must be provided no later than 2:00 p.m. November 16th, 2023, to ensure they are received by Council, and can be provided by any of the following methods:

MAIL: City of Nanaimo, Planning & Development, 455 Wallace Street, Nanaimo BC, V9R 5J6 IN-PERSON: Deposit in the drop box outside of the Service and Resource Centre, located at 411 Dunsmuir Street.

Any written submissions received after 2:00 pm or at the Public Hearing will not be accepted. Following the close of a Public Hearing, no further submissions from the public can be accepted by members of Council. This is necessary to ensure a fair Public Hearing process and provide a reasonable opportunity for people to respond at the Public Hearing.
