The chamber of commerce won’t be hosting a debate leading up to this election, but it is hosting an event to connect voters with candidates.

The Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is putting on a ‘Meet the Candidates Night’ on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Beban Park social centre.

City of Nanaimo council and mayoral candidates and Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools trustee candidates can participate.

“We are accustomed to providing voting information and candidate introductions in the lead-up to elections over the years. With the large number of candidates running, we felt this was the best way of providing exposure for them and a learning experience for voters,” said Kim Smythe, chamber CEO, in a press release.

The event is free for voters to attend.

The local government election is Oct. 15.
