The Vancouver Island Exhibition needs volunteers for the this month’s exhibition and is hosting a volunteer drive to draw extra hands to the fair.

VIEX will host a volunteer drive on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Beban Park fairgrounds, 2300 Bowen Rd. Anyone interested helping out with this year’s exhibition can stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and learn more about what it means to volunteer at the fair and sign up.

According to a VIEX press release, the fair relies on more than 250 volunteers. Volunteers are needed for the VIEX’s Family Fun Zone, home arts, information booth, set up and cleaning, volunteer check-in, entrance gates, security, administration, parking, main stage and more.

VIEX volunteers have fun, meet new friends and gain experience in various venues while serving the community, noted the press release. Volunteers also get a free VIEX volunteer T-shirt and a free meal for every four hours worked and receive an invitation to the VIEX’s volunteer appreciation party.

The VIEX happens Aug. 26-28.

Anyone who can’t attend the Aug. 20 volunteer drive can learn more by calling 250-758-3247 or visiting the VIEX website at www.viex.ca.
