Nanaimo RCMP have released a photo of the suspect of an attempted robbery of the Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy in Country Club Centre.

Nanaimo Mounties have released a photo of a suspect as part of their investigating the attempted robbery of a Shoppers Drug Mart.

The photo was released Monday morning following the incident, which happened in Country Club Centre on Thursday at about 11:20 p.m. when a pharmacist called 911 to report a male suspect had just tried to rob the pharmacy.

The pharmacist told police the suspect passed a note stating he had a gun and demanded oxycodone and percocet.

The suspect never produced a firearm and when the pharmacist told him the safe could not be opened due to a time delay, he fled the store.

Police attended, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect's race is unknown because his face was shielded by a hoodie pulled tight around his face, but he is about 5-foot-6, 140-150 pounds and clean-shaven. He wore aviator-style sunglasses, black pants and a black hoodie with white letters on the back.
