Nanaimo RCMP have arrested one of the two youths believed to be involved in a fire that heavily damaged a gas station convenience store on the weekend.
According to police, the suspect was arrested without incident at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in a home in south Nanaimo.
The fire in the Circle K convenience store ignited after two teens allegedly shoplifted from the store, with one of them shooting a flare in the direction of the store clerk, setting merchandise on fire.
The 16-year-old suspect is currently in custody and expected to make an appearance in Nanaimo provincial court today, May 4. Investigators are currently searching for the second youth connected with the incident.
