Two girls were followed by a driver wearing a balaclava earlier this month in Nanaimo.

Nanaimo RCMP issued a press release today, June 16, advising about an incident that happened Sunday, June 5, at about 8 p.m.

RCMP say the two youths were walking along Rosstown Road when a small, dark-coloured car drove past, then twice pulled U-turns to drive past two more times. The girls reported that the driver was unknown to them and was wearing a green balaclava.

“The girls became concerned for their safety [and] decided to run toward a path that had a gate which would could not be accessed by the vehicle,” the release noted.

RCMP patrolled the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2022-19138.
