Neighbours spotted two “suspicious characters” who may be responsible for a break-and-enter at a Nanaimo home last week.

The theft happened sometime between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 5 when two men broke into a home in the 1800 block of Latimer Road by gaining access through a lower floor bathroom window, according to an RCMP press release.

The suspects allegedly departed the house with a black Acer laptop computer, Acer Chromebook, a Bose Bluetooth speaker, four gold rings, gold earrings, a Nixon black watch and a silver watch engraved with the names of Lloyd and Matt Gilmour.

“Neighbours reported seeing two suspicious characters in the area,” noted the release.

One suspect appeared to be in his mid 30s with a slim build, 5-foot-8, with glasses and a goatee. He was wearing khaki pants, a dark-coloured hoodie and carried a black backpack. The second suspect was described as being in his mid 20s, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds, with shoulder-length curly hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie.

Both men were last seen walking along Manchester Lane.

Anyone with information about this break and enter is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency number at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2022-35234.
