Suspected thief seen ‘wheeling away’ motorcycle from Nanaimo mall

Nanaimo RCMP are looking for a motorcycle stolen in broad daylight at a Nanaimo shopping centre and anyone who might have witnessed to what police have described as a “brazen” theft.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, the theft happened at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, when a suspect, described as “male and of smaller stature” was seen by witnesses and captured on surveillance video wheeling away a motorcycle through the Country Club Centre parking lot between Best Buy and Great Canadian Oil Change.

The motorcycle taken is a black 2007 Suzuki DZR400 with a gold-coloured aftermarket exhaust that when last seen had the B.C. licence plate Z61385.

Police request that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information about this crime, contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file No. 2021-34966.
