The man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Nanaimo was arrested on the weekend.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that happened shortly after midnight May 1 when a girl became separated from her friends and was assaulted by a man on the Georgia Avenue Community School grounds.
Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said suspect, 28, was arrested at Swy-a-lana Lagoon Park at 10:13 p.m. Sunday. He was held in custody to appear in Nanaimo provincial court Tuesday to face a charge of sexual assault.
