A sewage pipe leak has closed off Morningside Park to the public until further notice.
According to a press release from the Regional District of Nanaimo, a leak was detected Tuesday and resulted in treated sewage effluent surfacing at a beach in the park. The public is asked to stay out of the water as well.
The leak is said to be coming from an outfall line from the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre.
The regional district said it is working as quickly as possible to repair the line.
