Search turns up sailor at home

NANAIMO – Coast guard conducts search of nearby islands for overdue craft, but finds occupant safe at home.

The sole occupant of a boat reported overdue Saturday morning, was found safe and sound.

Brandon Austin, Maritime Search and Rescue mission coordinator, with the Canadian Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, said in an e-mail to the News Bulletin, a search of Newcastle, Protection, Kuper and Thetis islands was conducted after receiving a report of an overdue vessel.

The person aboard the alleged overdue craft was located at his home.
