Two men were arrested following a robbery at Nanaimo North Town Centre Wednesday.

A suspect walked into the bank shortly before 3 p.m. and told a clerk he had a gun.

The suspect was handed an undisclosed amount of cash and ran out of the branch.

Police contained the area and received a good description of the alleged robber from several witnesses. An RCMP Dog Services team also managed to establish a track that lead to the trails behind Oliver Woods Community Centre where one suspect was arrested about 20 minutes after the dog picked up the scent.

A second man, police also believe was involved with the crime, was arrested as well and police continued to search for evidence articles in areas behind the shopping centre.

Two men, 32 and 23, both of no fixed address, are currently in custody and police are continuing their investigation.
