The Regional District of Nanaimo is updating its regional growth strategy and is seeking input from residents.
The RDN board, in amending its strategy, wants to ensure there is alignment between community priorities and growth management in the region.
Residents are asked to to provide input on land use, transportation, housing, and climate mitigation and adaptation. Residents can share their priorities for the region by completing a survey by March 25.
The regional growth strategy is the region’s collective vision for how to manage change and growth over the next 20 years, according to a press release. Key elements include the creation of connected communities, protecting the environment and the efficient delivery of RDN services, such as public transit, recreation and utilities.
“With the RDN experiencing continued growth, the regional growth strategy update is a timely opportunity for residents to provide their input which is vital for developing a collective vision for a vibrant, healthy and sustainable region,” said Tyler Brown, RDN chairperson, in the release.

Those who complete the survey will be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Residents are also encouraged to register and subscribe to the RGS project page to receive project updates and submit questions.
