Regional District of Nanaimo offers rebates on septic system maintenance

NANAIMO – The regional district will be offering its residents upwards of $600 per household for septic system maintenance.

The Regional District of Nanaimo will help residents maintain eligible septic systems with its new septic maintenance rebate program.

Beginning Sept. 15, the regional district will be offering its residents upwards of $600 per household for septic system maintenance. It will rebate 75 per cent of eligible maintenance costs, up to $200, in three categories: custom maintenance plan, effluent filter installation and riser installation.

Eligible maintenance must be performed on existing septic systems in the regional district between Sept. 15 and Dec. 31 and new systems are not eligible for the rebates.

Work must be done by registered onsite wastewater practitioners, professional engineers or geoscientists. They must be authorized to conduct onsite sewage installations.
