UPDATE: Police say the 78-year-old woman who was reported missing yesterday has been found safe and sound.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Nanaimo RCMP are asking for the public’s help to find 78-year-old Margaret St. Denis, who has not been seen since approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, St. Denis has significant medical issues and was last seen at Terminal Park Mall by caregivers, who told police she became increasingly agitated, threw her belongings on the ground, then quickly walked away from the mall parking lot. Caregivers attempted to find her but were unsuccessful. Nanaimo RCMP were contacted and immediately commenced searching for her.

St. Denis is white, heavy set, with short grey hair and was last seen wearing a green sweater and blue capri pants. She was not carrying any identification and may have a limited amount of cash on her.

Her last known address is on Gabriola Island and investigators have alerted officers and friends there to be on the lookout for her. St. Denis is considered quite resourceful and may attempt to make her way to Victoria.

Anyone with information on St. Denis’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the non-emergency line of the Nanaimo RCMP detachment at 250-754-2345.

Police were unable to provide a photo of St. Denis.
