All homeless encampments along the E&N trail by Transfer Beach will be cleared by end of day Tuesday, according to the Ladysmith RCMP.
RCMP and workers from the Town of Ladysmith visited the encampments on Thursday, Aug. 1. They warned the campers to move out of the area or risk being removed, and lose their belongings.

“Some people had to have assistance to get their belongings out,” Corporal Dave Fish said. “Anything that’s left behind has ended up getting dumped by the hazmat team.”
Workers from a hazardous waste management company were clearing sites of any belongings that were left behind.
Only one camper remains and that individual was co-operating with RCMP and intended to clear the site by end of day Tuesday, police said.
“Everything’s packed up, and they’ve left a note that they’re in the process of packing up, but they just need a little bit of time. We can give them that before it goes out to the dump,” Fish said.
It is unclear at this time where the campers will go next.
