Mounties from Nanaimo and Oceanside detachments hope the public can help track down two suspects believed responsible for a series of crimes in the central Island.

Police were called Tuesday, just before 8 a.m., when a man and woman were spotted in the parking lot of the Old Dutch Inn in Qualicum Beach trying to steal licence plates and swap them to a silver Hyundai Sonata.

The suspects fled, but left a rear licence plate that matched a car stolen in Nanaimo.

Police believe the same couple committed a break and enter at a residence in Errington a short time later.

A woman fled when residents found her in their home, but a credit card stolen from the home was used in Nanaimo shortly before noon the same day.

The woman is 5'5" with blonde hair in a pony tail, 15 to 18, and was wearing grey sweat pants and a black hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oceanside RCMP at 1-250-246-6111 or Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
