Nanaimo pastors are calling on city politicians to affirm that people of faith have equal access to civic facilities.
A delegation of pastors appealed to city council Monday to publicly state people of faith can hold and follow their beliefs without prejudice and maintain equal access to city-owned facilities. The move comes after council advised the conference centre in May to bar events associated with people or organizations that promote or have a history of divisiveness, homophobia or other expressions of hate.
The motion led to cancellation of a leadership simulcast.
