A Norovirus outbreak that infected 12 patients and 11 staff at its height at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is over.

With no new patients showing symptoms since last week, the outbreak, which restricted visitors from the fifth floor at the hospital, was declared over.

Norovirus causes vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever and lasts one to three days.
