A new traffic light at the Island Highway, Haliburton Street and Old Victoria Road intersection started operating Wednesday to address safety concerns.
Aaccording to a City of Nanaimo press release, intersection upgrades were undertaken in a partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and ICBC.
There are now four controlled intersections within a one-kilometre stretch of the Island Highway between Haliburton Street and Old Victoria Road the Cedar Road, Nanaimo Parkway interchange.
