Due to pipe replacement, the main vehicle entrance to Neck Point Park will be closed between Aug. 5 and Sept. 1.

While construction occurs, Neck Point Park will be open but people are being encouraged to gain entry from trails at the end of Shores Drive and use parking at Gulfview Drive as parking will be scant on Shores Drive. People are also encouraged to use other parks in the area.

The construction is due to a joint project between the City of Nanaimo and Regional District of Nanaimo, with upgrades to a storm culvert at Walley Creek for fish passage and sanitary sewer pipe replacement for the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre respectively.

The weekend overflow parking lot at Hammond Bay Elementary School will also be inaccessible during that time.
