Air cadets passed their inspection with flying colours this past weekend.
The Royal Canadian Air Cadets 205 Collishaw Squadron had their 81st annual ceremonial review on Sunday, May 28, at the Nanaimo Flying Club at the Nanaimo Airport.
The squadron marched in for inspection, performed by reviewing officer Leading Seaman (Ret.) Lewis Forth, and there were addresses from officials and awards presentations to cadets.
According to an event program, the air cadets’ activities in 2022-23 included classroom training, field exercises, inspection and commemorative parades, music, marksmanship, biathlon training on and off the mountain, effective speaking program participation, citizenship trips to Vancouver and Victoria, flying small aircraft, and more.
“The resumption of normal training restored a life to the squadron that made all the more appreciable the continued efforts of staff and senior cadets through the months of online training,” noted WO1 Joseph Clemotte, squadron commander, in the program. “The cadet program is in essence a line of communication of human knowledge passed and built generation by generation.”
