Nanaimo school district releases orientation schedules

NANAIMO – Summer vacation is ending for students of Nanaimo school district and school is starting.

August is ending and so is summer vacation for students of Nanaimo school district.

Public schools in the district are set to open for students on Wednesday (Sept. 4), with elementary school students attending for the full day – parents are asked to contact their school to find out the schedule for kindergarten students.

In terms of secondary schools, Grade 8 students at Cedar Community Secondary will be in class between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Grades 9-12 will start the day at 9 a.m. and end at noon.

Dover Bay Secondary students from Grades 9-12 start at 8:30 a.m. and will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Grade 8s will be in school from 12:10 p.m. until 3 p.m.

John Barsby Community Secondary will see its Grade 8 students beginning at 11:45 a.m. and dismissed at 3 p.m., while Grades 9 through 12 will be in school from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Nanaimo District Secondary's Grade 8 students see the day start at 12:15 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. while the rest of its students start at 8:35 a.m. and see dismissal at 11:35 a.m.

Grades 9-12 at Wellington Secondary will be in class between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. while Grade 8s start at 10 a.m. and are dismissed at 3 p.m.

Woodlands Secondary School students between Grades 9 and 12 are in school between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. while Grade 8s are in school between 12:10 p.m. and 3 p.m.
