UPDATE: Missing 22-year-old has been found.

MONDAY AFTERNOON: Police in Nanaimo are asking for the public’s help to find a young man.

Abiola Abid Amadou, 22, is from Benin, Africa, and has not had any contact with his family for more than a week, which is out of character for him. They reported him as missing on Saturday.

He recently stopped posting to social media, his cell phone is not activated and his family is very concerned for his personal well-being.

Amadou’s family told investigators they have not seen their son for seven months and do not know where he is residing or who his circle of friends might be.

Investigators have determined he was enrolled at Vancouver Island University, but last attended in 2017. Investigsators have not been able to determine where he was residing.

Amadou is 6-foot-2 with a slim build.

If anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
