Nanaimo RCMP investigate alleged assault between parents and a group of youths

NANAIMO – Police believe parents were looking for their son when an altercation took place near Wellington Secondary School.

The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating an alleged assault between two adults and a number of students from Wellington Secondary School.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, officers were called to the Subway restaurant on Thursday at about 12:30 p.m. for an altercation between two adults and a group of students.

Investigators learned that a husband and wife went into the Subway to look for their son. A heated conversation allegedly occurred between the parents and a group of youths. When all were asked to leave the restaurant, they headed to the parking lot where an alleged altercation took place between the parents and students.

School liaison officers from Nanaimo RCMP, along with officials from Nanaimo school district, are continuing to investigate the case.
