Nanaimo RCMP hope to find owner of ring

NANAIMO – Ring found in 2007 turned in to police who hope its owner might come forward.

On a summer day in 2007, a shiny object caught the eye of a man out for his lunch break.

To his surprise what he saw on the sidewalk was an expensive-looking gold ring encircled with diamonds.

Not seeing anyone who appeared frantically searching for it, he placed it in his pocket and there it remained until one day last week when the man checked the pockets of some old clothes he planned to donate to the Salvation Army and pulled out the ring he found eight years ago.

The finder turned the ring into police.

"Our finder is hopeful who ever lost it can finally stop wondering what came of it," Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, said in a press release.

Anyone with information about who might own the ring, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency number at 250-754-2345.
