‘Many tips’ help Nanaimo RCMP identify suspect who allegedly stole money from campground

UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP have identified a suspect who allegedly stole money from the office at Nanaimo’s Living Forest Campground.

“We have received many tips on this male. He has been identified, and we thank the public for their assistance,” noted Sgt. Jon Stuart in an e-mail.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Police hope the public can identify a suspect who allegedly stole money from a campground on Maki Road in the south Nanaimo area yesterday.

According to a press release, surveillance camera footage shows a man walking into the main office of Living Forest Campground on Oct. 2 at 6:20 p.m., allegedly taking an undisclosed amount of money from a small canister. He remained on scene for a few minutes before departing.

Police describe the man as Caucasian, approximately 40 years old, with shaggy dark hair, a beard and moustache, wearing grey pants and a red-white-black shirt, described as “distinctive.”

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2019-39752.
