The Nanaimo RCMP say they had numerous 911 calls of a hatchet-wielding man jumping over fences and dashing across rooftops along Bonavista Place Sunday afternoon. Witnesses reportedly saw him holding a hatchet to his throat and acting bizarrely.

Police found the man on a rooftop in the 6000 block of Brickyard Road, where they surrounded him and ordered him to stop. He had minor injuries and was taken to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for a health assessment.
