Nanaimo Mounties picked up three youths for allegedly breaking into cars Wednesday morning.
Police said a witness called at about 5:10 a.m., saying the youths were breaking into cars on Durham Street in Nanaimo’s Harewood district.
Officers arrested the trio, one of whom was allegedly found to be in the possession of a hunting knife.
The suspects were held at Nanaimo RCMP detachment until they were released in the custody of their guardian later that day.
Police have recommended charges of theft and possession of stolen property against all three suspects and a charge of possession of a weapon against one of the youths.
All three suspects are scheduled to appear in Nanaimo provincial court Nov. 8.
