Nanaimo hospital closes parking lot for equipment installation

NANAIMO – A section of the ER parking lot will be closed until Nov. 5 to accommodate installation of a new MRI.

A section of the Emergency Department parking lot (Lot B) at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital will be closed today (Oct. 29) at 7 p.m. until Nov. 5 to accommodate installation of new magnetic resonance imaging equipment.

This will affect stalls for hemodialysis and home dialysis patients and six physician callback stalls.

During this period, temporary hemodialysis and home dialysis parking stalls have been designated in coordination with the Renal Unit.

Physicians are asked to use alternate callback stalls within the parking lot.

Pedestrians will be able to walk around the fenced worksite except for short periods when access to the area will be closed due to operational requirements.

Several additional parking stalls will be closed from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening (Oct. 30-31), and again from the evening of Nov. 3 to the evening of Nov. 4.

Traffic control personnel and safety spotters will be on site as required.
