Nanaimo firefighters contain fire at Bay Street house

Nanaimo firefighters contained a fire in the Departure Bay area the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 2.

Crews responded to a report of a structure fire at the 2000 block of Bay Street around noon and subsequently blocked off an area around the house.

Capt. Ron Daly, of Nanaimo Fire Rescue, said smoke was seen around a woodstove area, but the fire is under control.

There were no injuries.
