Northbound traffic on the Island Highway threads its way through a three-vehicle collision on the bridge over Nanaimo River Tuesday morning after three four-wheel drive vehicle spun out on ice.

Traffic was slow moving in Nanaimo Tuesday morning after snow and freezing rain turned streets to ice rinks Monday night.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue and Nanaimo RCMP reported seven motor vehicle accidents overnight that included one two-car collision in Harewood on Tenth Street and a rollover when a car went out of control at the corner of Spencer and Meredith roads.

There were also two hit-and-runs.

Only minor injuries were sustained in any of the collisions, according to police.
