Ian Thorpe, Nanaimo city councillor, has been elected the new vice-chairman of the Regional District of Nanaimo board.
Thorpe was acclaimed at the regional district board meeting Tuesday night.
The position became vacant after Lantzville Mayor Colin Haime was replaced by Bob Colclough as the town's representative on the board.
