Nanaimo could get a bit of a break from snow

The weather will be wintry, but the snow might hold off during the daytime today, at least.

Environment Canada says there’s a chance of flurries Tuesday, Dec. 28, but the skies will be mainly cloudy. Periods of snow are in the forecast throughout the day Wednesday, Dec. 29, with a chance of flurries in the morning and a likelihood of flurries late in the afternoon.

Tuesday’s high is forecast to be -4 C with a low of -7 C.

There are warming centres open in Nanaimo seven days a week, according to the United Way B.C.: Rise Bridge operates a warming centre at 380 Terminal Ave. from 5:45-7:45 a.m. and 3:30-9:30 p.m. and the Canadian Mental Health Association operates a federally funded warming centre at 489 Wallace St. from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
