A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a collision in north Nanaimo on the weekend.
The crash happened on Mary Ellen Drive shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday
Witnesses told police the motorcycle was accelerating hard on the 6700 block of Mary Ellen Drive just before a collision between it and a pickup truck.
The motorcycle was heavily damaged and its rider, a 35-year-old Abbotsford man, was seriously injured and rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
"He suffered a serious head injury," said Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured and the truck suffered minor damage.
