Nanaimo families are invited to join in at a celebration of francophone culture this weekend.

The Maple Sugar Festival du Sucre d’Érable started Friday, Feb. 24, and continues through Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Beban Park social centre.

There is musical entertainment with dancing throughout the weekend, a market, a kids’ area, and French-Canadian cuisine including the Van Isle Poutinerie food truck and maple sugar toffee.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for teens and free for children 12 and under. The social centre will be open until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.

The event is put on each year by L’Association des francophones de Nanaimo. For more information, visit http://francophonenanaimo.org.
