Man injured by object thrown from pickup truck

NANAIMO – Man taken to hospital after being hit by eggs and possible rock thrown from passing truck.

A man went to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Sunday after he was hit in the head and knocked down by something thrown from a passing pickup truck.

The victim, 34, was walking to work on Shenton Road at about 10:45 p.m. when a pickup truck passed and he was hit by eggs, followed by a solid object that hit him in the head hard enough to knock him down.

The victim called police and went to hospital to be checked for a suspected concussion.

The items were thrown from an early ’90s two-tone, blue pickup with side steps and the person throwing the items was a Caucasian man in his late teens or early 20s with blonde hair.

A woman also reported her car was hit with eggs thrown from a “jacked up” truck Saturday at about 9:30 p.m.

No licence plate number was obtained in either incident.
