No life-threatening injuries were reported after a multi-vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Nanoose Bay.

Oceanside RCMP Const. Mark Maddex said police received a call at approximately 5:30 a.m., saying a medivan ambulance was flipped on its side.

The driver reportedly lost control due to slippery road conditions on Highway 19 and striking centre barriers just north of the Nanoose Petro-Canada gas station. The barriers were pushed into the oncoming lane and struck by two other vehicles.

The ambulance driver was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, and the other two drivers also reportedly did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was delayed briefly was crews worked to fix the barriers.

Maddex said the incident remains under investigation, and urged drivers to slow down when roads are wet.
