Volunteers from Nanaimo Fire Rescue, Vancouver Island Raiders, Nanaimo Clippers Midget Tier 1, Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes Food Bank and other organizations helped unload car loads of food at the annual Give and Go event hosted for the first time at Steve Marshall Ford Lincoln Wednesday to raise food and cash donations for the Hamperville Christmas Hamper program.

People dropping off donations were treated to live music and a barbecue and were handed gift bags by Santa and a sasquatch that turned out for the two hour-long event, which brought in 1,634 kilograms of food valued at $8,987 that will be distributed to families in Nanaimo this Christmas.
