Former Nanaimo school principal makes court appearance

NANAIMO – No plea entered at arraignment hearing Tuesday.

Former Nanaimo school district principal David Street appeared in Nanaimo provincial court for an arraignment hearing Tuesday.

Crown council staff said Street did not enter a plea at the hearing and his next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 30 when it will be determined if his case moves to trial depending on the plea entered at that time.

Street, 55, former principal at Woodlands and Ladysmith secondary schools, resigned his position after he was charged with theft of $5,000 or under in May following allegations of theft made against him from an RCMP investigation in early 2015.
