First-degree murder charges laid against suspect in Nanaimo mill shooting

NANAIMO – Two men were killed and two others injured in shooting at Western Forest Products Wednesday morning.

Two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder have been laid against a 47-year-old Nanaimo man in connection with the shooting Wednesday at the Western Forest Products.

Kevin Douglas Addison of Nanaimo was arrested and taken into custody shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday and charged later that day.

Police allege Addison was involved in a shooting that claimed the lives of  Michael John Lunn, 61, and Fred James McEachern, 53.

Two other males were also shot and suffered significant injuries.

A judicial bail hearing was held Wednesday night at the Nanaimo RCMP detachment.  Addison was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Nanaimo provincial court today (Thursday) at 10:15 a.m.
