Elderly man hit by car

NANAIMO – Elderly man injured when struck by car in south Nanaimo.

An 88-year-old man is recovering after being struck by a car Tuesday.

The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. when the victim was crossing Lawlor Road and was hit by a vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old woman, that was turing left from Tenth Street onto Lawlor Road.

Police said the victim struck the windshield of the car, sustained soft tissue injuries and was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The driver is co-operating with the investigation and police said weather conditions played a factor.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses to help determine who was at fault.
