Driver taken to hospital after hitting traffic-calming barrier on Nanaimo’s Lost Lake Road

Incident happened near Smokey Crescent on Wednesday, Jan. 4

A driver collided with a traffic-calming barrier and tipped their SUV in north Nanaimo this morning.

Emergency personnel were called out at a little after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, to a single-vehicle crash on Lost Lake Road near Smokey Crescent.

The male driver needed to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and was transported to hospital for precautionary reasons.

According to ICBC statistics, there were only two crashes at that intersection in the five-year period from 2017-2021.
