A downed power line sparked a brush fire and knocked out power in Yellow Point.

High winds on Jan. 26 caused a tree branch to snap and take out a high voltage line along Yellow Point Road between Doole and Keene road.

165 customers in the area were without power for approximately two hours as crews from North Oyster Volunteer Fire Department worked extinguish the fire.

B.C. Hydro crews worked quickly to repair the broken line and restore power.

A single tree was set ablaze by the downed power line. Wet weather in recent days helped limit the fire to only one tree in the area. Once it was safe to work in the area, NOVFD ensured the fire was out.
