The City of Nanaimo issued a warning this morning (May 31) that two bears have been sighted in Westwood Lake Park park as recently as today.

Signs notifying park users have been posted at the trail heads. Conservation Officers are aware of the sightings.

People planning to use the lake trails are urged to be bear aware. Remember these are wild animals and it is important that you give them space.  If you do head out along the trail, make noise as you travel, travel in pairs at a minimum and keep pets leashed.
