Charges laid in hospital lockdown

NANAIMO – Local man charged for issuing threat causing lockdown at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The Crown has approved charges against a Nanaimo man accused of making a threat that caused a lockdown at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital last week.

Craig Carter, 39, is charged with uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm to staff at NRGH, stemming from an incident Aug. 26.

Carter appeared in Nanaimo provincial court Thursday and was released on several conditions. His next court appearance is Sept. 16 at Nanaimo provincial court.
