The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect in the theft of an iPhone and purse in the 600 block of Kennedy Street, in which the suspect uploaded a picture of himself.

The owner of the iPhone told police July 5 she left her purse beside her car while carrying garbage to a nearby disposal bin. As she was carrying the garbage, she looked back and saw a man near her vehicle. When she returned, her purse and the man were long gone.

She obtained a new phone the following day and when the phone was activated, pictures were automatically uploaded, including one of the suspect seen by her purse just before it went missing.
