Isobel Mackenzie, B.C.’s seniors advocate, will be stopping in Ladysmith this week to speak with community members.
She will be at the Ladysmith Seniors Centre on Wednesday, April 19.
Mackenzie has more than 20 years of experience working with seniors in home care, licensed care, community services and and she led B.C.’s biggest not-for-profit agency, serving 6,000 seniors annually. In her work, she led the implementation of a new model of dementia care which has become a national best practice, and she led the first safety accreditation for home-care workers.

Before being the first provincially appointed seniors advocate in Canadian history in 2014, Mackenzie was named B.C. CEO of the year in the not-for-profit sector in 2012, and she was nominated as a Provicial Healthcare Hero in 2005.
The Office of the Seniors Advocate is an independent office of the provincial government which makes recommendations for change in health care, housing, income supports, community supports and transportation.
