Another snowfall warning issued for Nanaimo and most of the Island

Environment Canada predicts 10-15 centimetres of snow Saturday, Feb. 25

Nanaimo is getting more snow to close out a snowy week, says Environment Canada.

A snowfall warning issued Friday, Feb. 24, advises that 10-15 centimetres are expected to fall on most of Vancouver Island on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The exceptions are Greater Victoria, where there is a special weather advisory forecasting 5-10cm of snow, and the north Island, which isn’t expected to be hit by the storm.

“A significant frontal system will cross the south coast on Saturday, bringing widespread snow to the region,” noted Environment Canada. “Snow will start over Vancouver Island on Saturday and taper off to a few showers or flurries Saturday evening.”

Motorists are urged to be prepared to adjust their driving for deteriorating travel conditions and reduced visibility.

The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, in a press release, asked that drivers avoid unnecessary travel if possible and prepare for delays and lengthier commutes.
