Another bomb threat evacuates Nanaimo high school

Police blocked traffic on Mexicana and Departure Bay roads after senior staff at Wellington Secondary School reported at bomb threat Friday. Police failed to find anything suspicious.

Classes ended early Friday when Wellington Secondary School was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Senior administrators at the school called 911 at about 12:20 p.m. to report the threat, which had been found scrawled on a bathroom stall.

The school was evacuated, Departure Bay Road and Mexicana Road were blocked and a police services dog, trained in explosives detection, sniffed out the property, but found nothing suspicious related to the bomb threat. Staff were allowed back on the premises and students were sent home early.

A bomb threat was also phoned in to the high school on Feb. 10.

Police are continuing their investigation.
